LEAVES: Long narrowly linear leaves are opposite, i.e. a pair at each node.

FLOWERS: Deep pink to white flowers with five united petals and a narrow throat. Nearly enclosed in the throat is a three-branched style and five stamens.

PERENNIAL: Regrows for several seasons from a taproot to a height of 10 to 40 cm.

RANGE: Rocky soil, often in the shade or riparian trees. Generally distributed from nw Arizona along the rim into se Arizona.

FRUIT: A dry capsule that splits open from tip releasing many seeds.
