Observed on a rocky slope adjacent to Peppersauce Canyon, Sta. Catalina Mts., Arizona, USA. 18 April 2010.

FLOWERS: Complex inflorescence with a green cup holding very small male and female flowers within. Below the flowers are a pair of deltoid bracts.

LEAVES: Elyptical to linear leaves. White sap emerges from broken leaves and stems. Smooth surface and smooth margins.

HERBACEOUS ANNUAL: Fleshy herb; most plants are less than 40 cm tall.

RANGE: Rocky slopes, often in the shade of riparian trees or on partially shaded cliff faces. This plant is distributed over much of North America as well.

FRUIT: A warty capsule with three lobes. One seed in each capsule - requires good magnifier to see.
