This mourning dove was foraging freshly sprouted seeds in the Sonoran Desert at Phoenix' South Mountain Park , Maricopa Co., Arizona, USA.

One of the most common doves across North America is also a common bird in the Sonoran Desert. They are very abundant in agricultural areas as well as the cities Tucson, Mesa, Glendale, Yuma and Safford, Arizona. If fruit or freshly sprouted seedlings are present in the lower deserts they are quick to find them. Mourning Doves are frequent components of riparian habitat fauna as well.
