In the Sonoran Desert along the Mexican border this beautiful duck can be found on ponds and slow rivers. This specimen was found in Phoenix where it shows occasionally along the Salt River and at urban lakes/ponds. Note the pink-red bill and black under belly.

Year-round Resident - Some Migration to Mexico for winter months
