FLOWERS: Bright yellow flowers are arrayed into a spike at the end of the stems. The bright yellow stamens are very long.

LEAVES: Compound leaves with three leaflets - trifoliate. Pungent aroma emerges from crushed foliage.

ANNUAL/PERENNIAL: An herbaceous plant mostly less than a meter tall.

RANGE: Sandy areas with some alkaline or saline moisture below.

FRUIT: Single seeds inside one to three dry fruit sections.

UNARMED: No thorns present.

Family: Caparidaceae or Cleomaceae
