Sonoran Desert Sterculiaceae

Shrubs or small trees with simple leaves. Fruit a capsule with many seeds. One native genus with a couple of species and an exotic tree, often represented by hybrids. This plant family is closely related to and most often combined with the Malvaceae.

A small, oscure sub-shrub without showy flowers. Found on rocky slopes mostly at mid to upper elevations of the the Sonoran Desert and in transition to chaparral. Triangular, crenulate edged leaves.
