LEAVES: The small linear leaves and floral bracts are dotted with resin glands.

ANNUAL HERB: Summer to fall annual with often abundant small, bright yellow heads. Occasionally 30 cm tall.

RANGE: A plant of deep sandy soils that occur in and adjacent to desert washes. Common to abundant across the southwestern United States after good summer rains.

FLOWERS: Yellow flowers are enclosed in a single series of bracts, these with odorous resin glands. Flowering mostly Aug and September.

ACHENE:

UNARMED. Without thorns.
