Coreidae -- Leaf-footed Bug Family

Climbing Wortclub Most coreid bugs focus their feeding on developing fruits and seeds. This one was found feeding on developing seeds of Climbing Wortclub, Boerhavia scandens, where it inserts it piercing-sucking mouthparts into the still tender fruits to reach the seeds. Most leaf-footed bugs have a leaf-like expansion on the third pair of legs; this genus is an exception.
